Norbert Clemens, MD, PhD, Clinical Director as permanent consultant

Dr. Norbert Clemens is the company’s permanent Clinical Consultant and the phase III specialist of the CRS-Group.

After gaining his MD in 1987 and PhD three years later from the Ruhr-University of Bochum, Germany, Norbert pursued a successful academic career in a number of positions, including a year as an AIDS researcher in the public health service.

His introduction to the pharmaceutical industry was as a project manager at Intersan GmbH, a subsidiary of the IPSEN group, where he had responsibilities across several therapeutic areas including endocrinology, neurology, dermatology and gastroenterology. Norbert was Medical Director of Intersan/Ipsen Pharma and of the biotech company PAION for several years. Furthermore, he was Medical Director R & D at Valeant Pharmaceuticals International (previously ICN Pharmaceuticals) in Switzerland as well as General Manager and Head Global Clinical Trial Services at Analytica International GmbH in Germany. He is now Head of Clinical Development at CRS Mannheim, Germany.

Norbert maintains a visible presence in European pharmaceutical circles: he has been a board member of the R&D section of the German Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry (BPI) for several years and is a member of the drug safety and educational commissions.
